JOLLIBEE…I remember some time ago, just came
home from a day
of teaching when I first heard my two year old boy utter the word in succession. He said it in rhyme
with the tune at that time. How come, I figured out that it is maybe due to the
television and other media? Being exposed to enticing ads and appealing melody made him remember the tune. He can barely speak but he can hum the tunes
easily. Since then Jollibee became a common tease for us. My boy now 9 year old
used to make compromises for household chores and other errands in exchange for
a treat to the famous food chain. These fast few months became common daily
trips. The nearest store is around 15 minutes’ drive, as Lancaster New City in
Imus is yet to put up one.
What makes Jollibee tick? All through these years they were
able to mark its name as a dominant market leader in the Philippines. It is the
largest fast food chain in the Philippines, operating a nationwide network of
over 750 stores. The company has also embarked on an aggressive international
expansion plan, and currently has 80 stores outside the Philippines-USA (26),
Vietnam (32), Brunei (11), Jeddah (7), Qatar, Hong Kong, and Kuwait (1 each),
firmly establishing itself as a growing international QSR player.
Lately, the news that the store is it is closing temporarily
72 stores is unexpected. But the problem turned out to be that the company it
upgrading its IT infrastructure. Cool expect more convenience in service to
come.
Looking at the company history, Jollibee was founded by Tony
Tan and his family with its humble beginnings as an Ice Cream Parlor which
later grew into an emerging global brand. At the heart of its success is a
family-oriented approach to personnel management, making Jollibee one of the
most admired employers in the region with an Employer of the Year Award from
the Personnel Management Association of the Philippines, Best Employer in the
Philippines Award from Hewitt Associated and a Top 20 Employer in Asia citation
from the Asian Wall Street Journal.
Every Jollibee outlet welcomes customers with a clean and
warm in-store environment and friendly and efficient service. Filipinos always form long lines to the
store. It is more than home for them. It is a stronghold of heritage and
monument of Filipino pride.
